Bespoke Engraving
A complimentary engraving service, offered with every commission — your words, cut into ebony or rosewood, and sent as a gift in its own right.
A piece made for one person should say so. With every commission, our atelier engraves your chosen inscription into the lid of a solid ebony or rosewood presentation box — at no additional cost. It is the quietest part of the work, and often the part that is kept longest.
Ebony or Rosewood, Made to Keep
Every commissioned piece arrives in a solid hardwood presentation box — ebony for a deep, near-black grain, or rosewood for a warmer, figured tone. The box is built to outlive the occasion: it is a place to keep the piece when it is not worn, and to keep the story that came with it.
The service is complimentary. We do not charge for the box, and we do not charge for the engraving on it.
Your Words, in Your Language
We engrave in English and in Arabic, and we are glad to work in other scripts on request. Most often it is a name, a date, a short blessing, or a line that means something to two people and no one else.
Send us the text when you place your order. If a phrase does not sit well on a narrow lid, we will write back with an adjusted line before anything is cut — never after.
One of One, by Definition
An engraved box cannot be reassigned. Once your inscription is cut, the piece exists for you and for no other buyer — which is exactly what makes it worth giving, and worth receiving.
For this reason, personalised commissions are produced exclusively for the client who orders them. We confirm the inscription with you in writing before the engraving begins.
Three Quiet Steps
One — choose your piece and place the order. Two — tell us the wood you prefer and the exact text to be cut; we reply with a proof. Three — you approve the proof, and the box is engraved and prepared alongside the piece itself.
You may write to our concierge at any point in the process. There is no charge for revisions before the engraving is cut.
Say It Once, Properly
Most gifts are spoken about for a moment. An engraved box is opened again years later. If there is something you have been meaning to say to someone, this is a reasonable way to say it.
